On August 9th Sony Pictures released a press statement on the acquisition of Crunchyroll through their Funimation Global Group. The deal sees Crunchyroll merge with the joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment’s Aniplex partners, worth $1.175 billion, On 10th August Sony Pictures officially tweeted about the deal and merging of the two massive anime streaming services.
